Timothy Tumanic remembers the first LNS Hydrobar automatic magazine bar feeder he bought for his Shawano, Wisconsin CNC shop back in the early 1990’s, “We were basically a bar stock turning shop at that time and our goal was to speed up production of the various parts we were making. We chose the LNS bar feeder because we could quickly changeover from one job to another. We’d been told they were very reliable machines, and we weren’t disappointed. That bar feeder was bullet-proof.”
Tim’s business has grown significantly over the years and they are now a 100% CNC contract shop with typical run sizes of about 600 pieces. They specialize in parts with working envelopes of 1” to 10” and up to 28” long.
J&R serves customers in a variety of industries, including military and defense, oil and gas, hydraulics, medical, vehicle racing, and fire and protection. “We currently have 18 automated work cells, each comprised of two CNC machines, and we still exclusively use LNS bar feeders and LNS Turbo chip conveyors.”
“Like any shop, we want to avoid downtime and these LNS products just keep on going with minimal preventative maintenance. We seldom have any issues, but when we do LNS responds immediately. Using these bar feeders and chip conveyors lets us run lights out on weekends with confidence that the parts will be waiting for us Monday morning.”
To keep up with customer demand, J&R is currently in the midst of a $1.7 million expansion. “We will be adding the LNS e-Connect Ethernet communications system in the very near future. We position ourselves as the go-to partner for OEMs by delivering more than machined parts, such as providing PPAP and material traceability and quick response for mission-critical components. We couldn’t do this without reliable equipment, like the LNS bar feeders and chip conveyors."
